Setting Personal Options

Steps to Setup Personal Options in Dynamics 365

Users can change many Dynamics 365 settings based on personal preference. This is done on the Set Personal Options page, which can be accessed here:

  • From the web client, click on the Gear > Options.
  • From the Outlook client, click File > Dynamics 365 > Options.

Set Personal Options

Key Personal Options

More than 100 personal options can be set. Here is a short list of some important ones for making life easier:

Home Page

Note: this personal option applies only to web client users, since the Outlook client does not have a home page.

On the General tab, users can set their default home pages to whatever they prefer. A common home page is Dashboards, where users can get a high-level view of their work to guide them toward what they need to accomplish.

Records Per Page

On the General tab, users can choose the number of records to be displayed in the a view without having to go to the next page.  The drop-down list shows options ranging from 25 to 250.

Advanced Find Mode

On the General tab, users can choose to make Detailed the default option for each advanced find. This decreases the number of clicks necessary to create an advanced find.

Time Zone

On the General tab, users can set their time zone by picking an option from the drop-down list.

On the General tab, the user’s choice of currency can be selected by clicking on the lookup icon and selecting from the list. This allows users to select a currency that differs from the default currency set by the system administrator.

Email Tracking

On the Email tab, users have the option to decide which email messages to track. For example, a user can choose to track all messages or just messages in response to CRM emails, leads, contacts, and accounts. Additionally, contacts or lead records can be automatically created from the sender or organizer of the tracked email messages.

On the Privacy tab, the system allows users to dictate the frequency with which they’re notified about errors that occur when navigating through the system. Users will have the options to choose to be notified about every error and whether they want to send an error notification to Microsoft, whether to automatically send the error report or to not send an error report at all.

Alternative to Personal Options

While users can configure these settings on the user level, System Administrators may wish to set many of these settings at an organizational level.  To access these settings at the administrator level, go to System > Administration > Privacy Preferences.
