We just talked about selecting the right tools for your data migration and integration. Now it’s time to analyze the source data.
Much of the extra work of data migrations and integrations could be saved by analyzing and cleansing the data before attempting to bring it into Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Use Excel, the SQL Analyzer, or simple SQL queries to count unique values or determine whether a field is used or used consistently.
In some cases, consider the value of your data and whether a fresh start would be a better investment of time and materials spent. An example would be for leads in your Dynamics CRM system that are three years old and no contact has been made.
Once you’ve analyzed your data, you can move on to creating a data mapping document.
